Picture sharing

To share your pictures from the Revels, please email them individually to plank98bee@photos.flickr.com and make sure that when you upload use the subject line to give your photo a title, and the body of the email to give it a description. Most useful would be to know who was in the picture. There is a 2 GiG a month bandwith limit to the picture sharing service, so choose the best ones please. If you really do have lots and lots of fabulous photos you'd like to upload in batches, email natasha3@gmail.com for instructions on how to log onto the photosharing site. When new photos are uploaded links will appear here.

Friday evening

Our bountiful hosts for this international themed evening were Max and Silvie. Everyone dresses up. We start with champagne and passion fruit. The eight course French meal includes a starter of pate, pea soup and basil oil, rabbit stew and chocolate mousse. Father Richard and Paul Blezard join us. Beer is partly sponsored by Palestinian company Taybeh (the finest in the Middle East), and sweet Greek dessert wine by Samos supplied by the kind folks at wine specialist eclectic wines.

Paul Moss’s piece on happiness, reported from the festival, airs on Radio 4 while we are all eating.

Friday Max & Silvie cook

Hamish and Mim depart for London for the opening night of Mim's exhibition.

Max & Silvie (shown here with rabbit) spend the entire day cooking an eight-course sit down meal for 30.

Friday morning

Polly Billington & Natasha Loder take a walk around Whitney. Revellers take note: this is a wonderful part of the country in the daylight.

Thursday - Birthday

Hamish Nixon celebrates his birthday at Whitney Court. A meal in the dining room, cake with sweet raspberry sauce served with beautiful Mim's handmade silver spoons. Hamish makes a small speech. He explains that he has been to every one of the Whitney Court revels since they began--this is his fourth. He tells us that there must be some special unit of time in this house, perhaps, he thinks, a "Whitney"... which is the surprisingly small amount of time in which new friends become old ones.

Max and Silvie arrive with a mountain of shopping from France.

Midweek - Sadakat

Another Whitney Court star this year, Sadakat Kadri sits by the fire at Whitney Court, author of The Trial, and Hay speaker. It isn't out of focus, it's arty.

Midweek - Oona arrives

Former MP Oona King arrives with her friend Quincy to stay in the house. Here Oona is shown in the Green Room with Polly Billington.

Everybody falls in love with Oona, and, even better, she tells us what she really thought when she was deposed by George Galloway. Our lips are sealed.

Fabulous creatures-the pictures

Glittering Scum-first weekend

Over the weekend, a sparkling array of fabulous creaturs descend upon the house for spanking, vibrators and mint lube. Pictures are starting to arrive from the weekend's activities and Cat's fine specimens can be found here. Be sure to check out the nipple casting.

Shown in this picture, the wonderful Yolande Burgin dressed enigmatically for the naughty party, earlier in the week.

Dinner party

Dinner party

On Monday many of the weekend revellers departed for London and a few new guests arrived, including Polly, who helped whip up a meal for 25.

Palash turned up in the evening with a surprise pair of dinner guests, an award-winning drinks journalist Andrew Jefford and his wife Paula. Sadly, the only soft drink we could find in the house for Paula was Vimto. The dinner party stretched on into the and for some into the next day.

Shown here, Alison and Marcella.

Zembla's Town & Country party

Zembla's Town & Country party

Whitney throws its big party for the literary magazine Zembla.
Attended by a large gathering of folk from the festival, revellers and
featuring cocktails from cool London bar 43, barman Peter (shown here)
pouring a cocktail specially brewed for the evening. Also sponsored by
Becks and Channel 4.

...also spotted

...also spotted

Also spotted in the Green Room was Christopher Hitchens who was
warming up for his appearance later that day. He later appeared in a
debate with Roy Hattersley, John Micklethwait, and Mark Leonard,
entitled "History will be kinder to Bush and Blair than to Chirac and
Schroder". His most memorable contribution to the frontiers of
intellectual though was to tell one of his questioners in the audience
to "fuck off". For sheer entertainment value this was one not
to miss.

A brief stroll round the Hay festival site turns up immediate evidence of
literary activity among the Whitney revellers. Daphna
